Founder Biography

A SDFields native New Yorker, Dr. Sheldon D. Fields, PhD, RN, FNP-BC, AACRN, FAANP, FNAP, FAAN (also known as Dr. DARCY) is the founder President and CEO of “The S.D.F Group, LLC”. He has 29-years of experience in the health sector as an educator, researcher, clinician, administrator, consultant, health policy specialist, and nurse entrepreneur. He is a nationally board-certified doctorally prepared Family Nurse Practitioner.

Dr. Fields received his Ph.D., in Nursing Science from the University of Pennsylvania, his M.S., in Family Nursing and B.S., in Nursing from Binghamton University (State University of New York). He completed post-doctoral studies at the Center for AIDS Prevention Studies at the University of California San Francisco followed by the completion of a certificate as a legal nurse consultant from the University of Rochester.

Dr. Fields was the first ever male Registered Nurse selected for the prestigious Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Health Policy Fellowship Program. As a RWJ-fellow, he worked in Washington, DC on Capitol Hill for Senator Barbara Mikulski on the Senates Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions – Aging Subcommittee during the historic healthcare reform debates and passage of the Affordable Care Act. This underscores his commitment to health equity and finding ways to provide access to healthcare, especially for historically underserved marginalized populations.

He is a known international HIV prevention research scientist who has participated in over $120 million dollars of funded research with a primary focus on young men of color. Dr. Fields is a former national director of the Association of Nurses in AIDS Care (ANAC) and is an advanced HIV/AIDS certified registered nurse (AACRN). He currently serves on the board of directors of the National Black Nurses Association, Inc (NBNA) and is the founding President of the Greater New York City Chapter of NBNA. He has been recognized for his excellence with elected member fellowships in the
American Association of Nurse Practitioners (FAANP), the Nursing Academy of the National Academies of Practice (FNAP), and the highly selective and prestigious American Academy of Nursing (FAAN). Academy fellow induction is one of the highest honors in the nursing profession.

As an academic he has held faculty appointments at Binghamton University, the University of Rochester, Florida International University, Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science, New York Institute of Technology, and Long Island University-Brooklyn.

Background and Overview

Dr. Sheldon Darcy Fields founded “The S.D.F Group, LLC” in the Spring of 2017 in response to increasing request to provide various health field related consultative services. With more request than, he could personally fulfill it was time to expand and formally establish a company to handle the demand. What emerged is a dynamic fee-for-service multidisciplinary health innovation consultant company. The founder chose to name the company using his initials and that is what “S.D.F” is reflective of.


The health field continues to change and evolve with multiple layers of complexity. The S.D.F Group, LLC is here to work clients to achieve success in whatever health field sector they are operating in. Our consultants provide a wide range of programs and services tailored to each client’s individual needs. With the use of innovation these services are provided in person and on line.
